摘要: This paper reviews new perspectives in polymer adhesion mechanisms. Both reptation theory and related experiments have demonstrated the existence of either self-diffusion or interdiffusion rubbery polymers at interfaces. Thus, adhesive strength, green tack elastomeric adhesives can be least partially explained on basis diffusion mechanism. Besides diffusion, adsorption mechanism plays a major role achieving molecular contact. Without contact, molecules not attain adequate physical interface through van der Waals attraction. When distance is less than 4 angstroms, chemisorption take place due to interaction. both physisorption are important enhancing adhesion. In addition above mechanisms, we shall mention briefly mechanisms mechanical interlocking, chemical bonding, electronic adhesion.© (1993) COPYRIGHT SPIE--The International Society for Optical Engineering.
