摘要: India is home to around 40 species of Allium, out which a majority are found in the wild higher reaches Eastern and Western Himalayas. Changing environmental conditions various anthropogenic interventions have threatened existence many these species, most not cytologically characterized. In this paper, novel cytotypes Allium carolinianum fasciculatum reported for first time from India. Detailed cytological investigations revealed tetraploidy A. (2n = 4x 32) 40). The karyotype more symmetrical, with chromosomes having median/median region constrictions [16 M(2SAT) + 10 m 2sm 3st 1 t] falls 2B category Stebbins’s chart chromosome asymmetry, while that was be asymmetrical, mostly submedian subterminal [1 M 3 16sm(2SAT) 18st(2SAT) 2 t], categorized 3B asymmetry.
