Near-Threshold Photodetachment Cross Section of (SF6)n– Cluster Anions: The Ion Core Structure

摘要: Photodetachment cross sections as a function of photon energy are measured for cold (SF6)n– cluster anions stored in an electrostatic ion beam trap. Absolute photodetachment near the adiabatic limit reported. The strong dependence SF6– absolute section on anion equilibrium bond length leads to conclusion that excess charge is localized core only subtly perturbed by neighboring units.
