摘要: We report an experimental measurement of the acoustic signal emitted from individual suspended carbon nanotube (CNT) approximate 2 μm in length, 1 nm diameter, and 10–21 kg mass. This system represents smallest thermoacoustic studied to date. By applying AC voltage 1.4 V at 8 kHz CNT, we are able detect using a commercial microphone. The power detected is found span range 0.1 2.4 attoWatts or 0.2 μPa sound pressure. corresponds efficiencies ranging 0.007 0.6 Pa/W for seven devices that were measured this study. Here, small lateral dimensions these cause large heat losses due thermal conduction, which result relatively observed efficiencies.
