Theoretical investigation of barium-helium collisions. I. The adiabatic potential curves

摘要: Collisions between ground-state helium atoms and excited barium in the (6p){sup 3}P{sub J}, (5d){sup 1}D{sub 2}, 3}D{sub J} states are treated theoretically. Born-Oppenheimer potential curves calculated with a combination of semiempirical model potentials pseudopotentials to represent interactions valence electrons atom closed-shell cores. The molecular basis set is constructed from numerical eigenstates Ba{sup +} ion. Spin-orbit coupling included explicitly e{sup {minus}}-Ba{sup 2+} interaction Hamiltonian. We report higher-lying correlated metastable (5d{sup 2}){sup 3}F{sub states. {copyright} {ital 1997} American Physical Society}
