摘要: Polymyxin B and an antiserum against Re mutant Salmonella typhimurium were evaluated for protective effect in equine model endotoxemia. Six 3- to 5-month-old foals given endotoxin (0.25 micrograms/kg of body weight) IV after no pretreatment, or pretreatment with polymyxin (6,000 U/kg, IV) S (1.5 ml/kg, IV). When without caused transient recumbency increases rectal temperature, heart respiratory rates. In addition, leukopenia circulating tumor necrosis factor (TNF) interleukin 6 (IL-6) activities detected. Compared results obtained when was alone, resulted significantly (P < 0.05) lower maximal plasma TNF IL-6 activities, temperature rate. contrast, compared effects use associated higher rate, activity, total response (as determined by areas under curves vs time). These indicate that may have potential as a treatment had positive this model, and, certain conditions, exacerbate the actions endotoxin.
