摘要: Reproductive development is a crucial process during plant development. The SMC (Structural Maintenance of Chromosome) 5/6 complex has been studied in various species. However, there are few studies on the biological function SMC6 development, especially reproduction. In this study, knocking out both AtSMC6A and AtSMC6B led to severe defects seed complementation assay showed that either or could completely restore abortion smc6a  -/-  smc6b  -/-double mutant. Knocking down smc6b mutant female male decreased fertility. double mutation also resulted loss cell viability, caused embryo endosperm death through vacuolar necrosis. Furthermore, expression levels genes involved patterning, cellularization, DNA damage repair, cycle regulation, replication were significantly changed albino seeds Moreover, we found SMC5/6 may participate SOG1 (SUPPRESSOR OF GAMMA RESPONSE1)-dependent repair pathway. These findings suggest functionally redundant play important roles for gametophyte maintaining chromosome stability Arabidopsis.
