An exanthematic disease epidemic associated with coxsackievirus B3 infection in a day care center

摘要: An epidemic of exanthematic illness in a day care center is described. Ten children aged 7 to 13 months were affected by the illness. The exanthem was characterized nonconfluent macular or maculopapular lesions that appeared on face, body and limbs. Fifty percent infected had fever up 39oC at beginning disease. Coxsackievirus B3 (CB3) isolated from stool one ill child. Paired serum samples obtained eight six them presented seroconversion CB3. Antibodies CB3 detected titers higher than 16 single sample collected other two patients. Neutralizing antibodies 71.0% contact children.
