摘要: Abstract Irradiation of aqueous solutions Escherichia coli 50 S ribosomal subunits with 253.7 nm light results in the covalent crosslinkage rRNA and protein components. Neither peptide bond cleavage nor protein-protein accompanies reaction. In addition, substantial photoinduced modifications primary structure proteins, other than to rRNA, are not detected. The proteins proceeds two discrete, dose-dependent steps. first step, requires an input up 3 · 10 20 Quanta radiation, less half rRNA. second step greater remaining possible relationship nature reaction spatial orientations molecules intact is discussed.
