摘要: It is well known that nonwhite minority participation in clinical research lower than their representation the community. The goal of this study was to assess satisfaction community members Omaha with care received and cultural competency healthcare providers. We sought input from communities on how improve they asked why did not participate research. Seventy-two representing African Americans, Hispanic Native Sudanese, Vietnamese; eight whites were surveyed. results indicated majority our respondents satisfied received, but for a small percentage, language, communication and/or culture contributed dissatisfaction. In addition, some think provider culturally competent, i.e., sufficiently knowledgeable about racial, ethnic background. Some participants preferred similar background, thought diseases better treated by same Regardless provider, overwhelming (with exception Americans) willingness conclusion, found providers associated perceived affect patient research; however, we acknowledge Hawthorne effect may be operation.
