摘要: Abstract Refractive-index nonlinearities have negligible effect on the performance of short-haul fiber-optic communication links utilizing electronic repeaters. However, in long links, can cause severe signal degradations. To mitigate nonlinear effects, a new generation fibers, referred to as large effective-area been introduced recent years. This paper reviews latest research and development work these fibers conducted by several groups around world. Attention is focused class that are based depressed-core multiple-cladding design. Another important issue long-haul high capacity fiber optic systems polarization-mode dispersion (PMD) which has recognized serious limiting factor. In this paper, an improved design proposed which, addition providing low bending loss, eliminates PMD due elliptical deformation single-mode wavelength region. Furthermore, allowed provide small chromatic about few ps / nm km , order overcome four-wave mixing effects.
