摘要: Rural finance has long been an important tool for poverty reduction and rural development by donors governments, but the impacts have controversial. Measuring impact is challenging due to identification problems caused selection bias governments’ targeted interventions, while randomised trial data scarce limited contexts where little no exists. Using author-collected set, we provide insights on a large scale long-lasting subsidized rice credit programme in Myanmar, one of poorest and, until recently, most economically isolated countries Asia. Identification relies fuzzy regression discontinuity design, exploiting arbitrary element provision rule which based land holding size. Although find evidence that yield or output increased, do see program some positive effects total household income, suggesting spillover effect other farm income activities.
