摘要: Only one prospective, controlled study has compared the risk of accidental injury in persons with epilepsy to controls without seizures. A mildly increased group was found, predominantly due injuries that result directly from a seizure. With regard type, this found significantly higher rates only head and soft tissue injury; however, most were minor. Several retrospective, population-based studies have suggested more serious types. Submersion high mortality; submersion children is 7.5-13.9 fold than general population. The fracture elevated approximately twofold, either resulting seizure-induced or predisposed by drug-induced reduction bone mineral density. Burns seizures account for between 1.6% 3.7% burn unit admissions. motor vehicle accidents drivers also appears increased, albeit marginally. factors predispose among those epilepsy. Seizures falls increase concussion other injuries. Higher seizure frequency, lack prolonged seizure-free interval, comorbid attention deficit disorder, cognitive handicap may injury. While some restrictions are necessary protect safety person epilepsy, undue limitations further limit achievement independence. Given morbidity mortality injury, active should bathe swim supervision; showering reasonable option. Appropriate vitamin D calcium supplementation periodic measurement density at osteopenia recommended.
