摘要: Abstract Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the results surgery for hospitalized cases aneurysms in United States, thereby providing a standard comparison new techniques proposed treat aneurysms. Methods: Data on aneurysm were collected from National Hospital Discharge Survey, comprehensive database patients States treatment years 1984 1994. Survey samples non-federal, acute-care hospitals with an average length stay less than 30 days. All had diagnosis or surgical procedure non-cerebral aneurysm. Results: In year 1994, 51,949 repaired and 75% these procedures abdominal aortic (AAA) surgeries. operative mortality rates AAA higher previously reported multi-institutional studies found be 8.4% elective repair 68% emergency repair. number surgeries per thousand population varied by region: more frequent Northeast West. Surgical volume appeared decrease smaller increase larger period between 1990 overall all diminished hospital size. However, no significant difference sizes. percentage men who underwent significantly women addition, increased 1985 AAAs remained constant. Conclusion: location aneurysm, urgency repair, region, sex, size are important factors related patient outcome. These data provide against which surgeons can compare their own results, they benchmark evaluation interventional (J Vasc Surg 1999;30:632-40.)
