Women's experiences of abuse: a review of qualitative research

摘要: This article reviews qualitative research published within the past 15 years based on women's first person accounts of their abuse experiences. Battered experiences in abusive relationships aid understanding why they stay, how cope, and others can help. Women's views emotional consequences battering, process leaving, impact social systems community resources were consistent. Other themes literature pregnancy, women who fight back, substance use, sex after beatings, family origins, are elderly, minority, or from other cultures. Future is needed minority affluent women, as well role batterer's patriarchal attitudes religious beliefs. Practice suggestions include expanding screening parent education to pediatricians' offices schools.
