Associations between maternal stress and smoking: findings from a population‐based prospective cohort study

摘要: Aims  To investigate associations between maternal stress and smoking prior to, during 6 months after the pregnancy. Design  A prospective population-based cohort study. Setting  Norway. Participants  total of 71 757 women in Norwegian Mother Child Cohort Study (MoBa) participating twice pregnancy at postpartum. Measurements  Respondents' estimates anxiety depression, relationship discord negative life events were measured, along with self-reports behaviour demographic variables. Smoking was assessed gestation weeks 17 30 postpartum. Findings  Of 27.5% who smoked conception, 55.8% quit pregnancy. At postpartum, 28.9% quitters had relapsed to smoking. In total, 12.9% sample reported Adjusted for well-known risk factors, reporting high levels depression a decreased likelihood quitting [odds ratio (OR) 0.80, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.73, 0.88) an increased relapsing delivery (OR 1.26, CI: 1.11, 1.44). Both 0.82, 0.75, 0.90) exposure 0.93, 95%: CI 0.90, 0.96) influence on but no relapse postpartum. Conclusions  Maternal may inhibit cessation promote resumption have achieved abstinence.
