Using SDI, SDI+ and MFI to evaluate fouling in a UR/RO desalination pilot plant

摘要: This paper assesses the performance of a UF/RO demonstration plant located in Oosterschelde estuary south-western part Netherlands. Spring blooms seawater pose challenge to because resulting increased fouling potential water. Determinations indices SDI, SDI+ and MFI0.45 were carried out at with different operational conditions, such as coagulant addition pH correction. Eight membranes used tests. In general, UF was found be good SDI values around 1, provided standard used, lower than 1 s/L2. The showed same tendency most cases. As expected, whereas marked sensitivity membrane type did not display this dependency hence appear more reliable index SDI. Storing RO feed overnight tank feed, likely caused by continued coagulation.
