摘要: Although bariatric surgery was originally designed to induce weight loss in the severely obese, far more important effect of this operation is control and/or remission metabolic disease. Remarkably, reduction contact between food and gut not only reverses obesity but also produces diabetes, hypertension, hyperlipidemias, stress incontinence, nonalcoholic steatotic hepatitis (NASH), gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), polycystic ovary syndrome. These outcomes offer new approaches for treatment these chronic challenging diseases but, even important, exciting avenues better understanding signaling how alterations process cause our most disabling diseases.
