摘要: The Mexican state of Veracruz has suffered very high deforestation rates in the last few decades, and despite establishment protected areas conservation projects, primary forest is now mainly persisting mostly small, scattered, fragmented remnants. New species Magnolia section Talauma this have been described with little to no reference already existing ones, potentially resulting over-splitting, obscuring their taxonomic delineation status, consequently programs. To study units genetic diversity, we here employ 15 microsatellite markers on a highly representative sampling 254 individuals what are presumed be five species. results support at least three maximum main units. We propose downgrading latter four, given morphological, ecological, demographical, geographical considerations. Two out sympatrically occurring rainforest Los Tuxtlas volcanic area weak evidence considered separate Similarly, Sierra de Zongolica central Veracruz, who bear morphological similarity mexicana, recognised as Nonetheless, could identified decastroi based morphology, further research including full range recommended.
