摘要: The current investigations coordinate math cognition and cultural approaches to numeric thinking examine the linkages between spatial processes, how these are modified by artifact of writing. Previous research in adult literature has shown that English monoliterates have a spatialised mental number line which is oriented from left-to-right with smaller magnitudes associated left side space larger right space. These associations been termed Spatial Numeric Association Response Code Effect (SNARC effect, Dehaene, 1992). study investigates orientation following groups: monoliterates, Arabic who use only right-left writing system, Arabic-English biliterates, illiterate speakers read numerals. Current results indicate, for first time, Reverse SNARC effect such had right-to-left directionality. Furthermore, weakened was observed no among Illiterate speakers. findings especially notable since left-right biases neurologically supported pre-literate children regardless system used adults. broader implications artifacts affect basic will be discussed.
