摘要: This paper contributes to the emerging debate on participatory modelling at core of adaptive action research. We compare and reflect upon lessons learned from two projects in very different bio-physical socio-economic contexts, UK Nicaragua, outline a shared theoretical methodological framework assist researchers local stakeholders jointly assess, monitor adapt climatic other changes. discuss opportunities obstacles, specifically: (1) incorporating uncertainty surprises; (2) combining epistemologies; (3) dealing with representativeness power dynamics; (4) creating for improving stakeholders' agency; (5) facilitating dialogue negotiation by using models as heuristics. Our analysis emphasizes importance unavoidable trade-offs when engaging interdisciplinary research complex uncertain decision-making contexts. The experiences show that involvement throughout process, epistemological plurality, flexibility sensitivity context-dependent socio-cultural processes need be considered who wish enhance capacity communities they work with.
