摘要: The core claims of the practice turn in International Relations (IR) remain ambiguous. What promises does international theory hold for field? How kind theorizing it produces differ from existing perspectives? research agenda produce? This article addresses these questions. Drawing on work Andreas Reckwitz, we show that approaches entail a distinctive view drivers social relations. Practice theories argue against individualistic-interest and norm-based actor models. They situate knowledge rather than “mental frames” or “discourse.” focus how groups perform their practical activities world politics to renew reproduce order. therefore overcome familiar dualisms—agents structures, subjects objects, ideational material—that plague IR theory. are heterogeneous family, but, as argue, share range commitments. Realizing promise requires considering full spectrum its approaches. However, field primarily draws trajectories emphasize reproduction hierarchies. It should pay greater attention rooted pragmatism contingency change. We conclude with an outline challenges future must tackle.
