摘要: The proposed chapter deals with platform emergence in double unknown situations when technology and markets are highly uncertain. interest technological development to enable creation of products processes that support present future multiple options is widely recognized by practitioners academics. existing literature considers platforms already invented the mostly based on exploiting this common core build derivatives. However, we situations, technologies uncertain neither market options, nor cores known. Thus, how start an exploration? How can one ensure unknown? What conditions lead different strategies emergence? To answer these questions, formally describe identified fabricate simple economical model compare them. We illustrate insights through a case study innovative semiconductor industry. Our results allow for better understanding minimization risks exploration costs unknown. Following principle value across various applications, work extends comprehension generic design
