摘要: The earliest recorded use of airway manipulation with an artificial device dates back to early Roman civilization when Asclepiades performed a tracheostomy for laryngeal edema. Today it is clear that the role endotracheal tube (ETT) in medicine as invaluable any other medical created date. establishment definitive via ETT both elective and emergency situations has allowed delivery immediate life-sustaining therapies during resuscitation, maintenance oxygenation ventilation prolonged illness, (temporary) inhaled anesthesia [1]. This chapter begins brief history development ETT. It describes various ETTs available along their indications respective limitations. reviews basic anatomy regard placement, proper positioning stabilization ETT, complications attributed its use. Finally, addresses respiratory care intubated mechanically ventilated patient.
