摘要: Abstract The aim of the paper was to investigate ability an eco-friendly luminescent xerogel prepared by chitosan crosslinking with a phenothiazine luminogen detect and remove heavy metals. Its give divergent morphological optical response towards fifteen environmental relevant metals investigated naked eye UV lamp, fluorescence spectroscopy scanning electron microscopy. A distinct noted for mercury, consisting in transformation into rubber-like material accompanied red shifting color emitted light from yellow-green greenish-yellow domain. particularities anchoring were analyzed FTIR X-ray diffraction. changes metal uptake SEM-EDAX, swelling gravimetric methods. It concluded that mercury has superior affinity this heteroatoms rich system, leading secondary crosslinking. This directed great absorption capacity 1673 mg/g specific ion concentrations up 0.001 ppm.
