Consistent Route Flows and the Condition of Proportionality

摘要: User equilibrium (UE) static deterministic traffic assignments are widely used in travel forecasting practice. Forecasting analyses that based on route flows also quite common, even though it is well known not uniquely determined by the UE conditions, unless an additional condition imposed, such as of proportionality. The purpose research described here to examine nature and magnitude differences a practical setting, applying several assignment tools commonly practice, tool (TAPAS), case study network Chicago region. Select link from various solutions compared with each other, showing results practically meaningful. findings show TAPAS can produce solution satisfies proportionality nearly perfectly. Implementations Frank-Wolfe algorithm reasonably satisfy proportionality, but satisfactory levels precision (UE convergence) require substantial computation times. Alternative commercially available provide quick precision, their seem deviate considerably cases examined so far.
