摘要: A survey of elderly women was carried out to discover their attitudes towards pet cats. The were living in publicly-owned pensioner housing two New Zealand cities. In one city cats allowed the pensioners' and other they not. Attitudes more positive where allowed, if pensioners owned a cat, or wished own one. As outweighed negative ones, City Authority which had prohibited reversed its policy. There conflicting evidence about role reducing feelings loneliness. It appears that “loneliness” signifies loss many aspects social interaction pets may substitute for only some these interactions.
