摘要: This study analyzes panel data for 61 countries during 1980-97 and concludes that explicit deposit insurance tends to be detrimental bank stability, the more so where interest rates are deregulated institutional environment is weak. Also, adverse impact of on stability stronger when coverage offered depositors extensive, scheme funded, it run by government rather than private sector.
