Self-Reported Use of Anabolic-Androgenic Steroids by Elite Power Lifters.

摘要: In brief: Sixty-one athletes competed in the 1987 National Championship of US Powerlifting Federation; all were surveyed to obtain information on anabolic-androgenic steroids regarding attitudes, patterns use, and health effects. Of 45 who responded survey, 15 admitted having used steroids. a follow-up telephone interview 20 competitors, 11 reported previous steroid use. The reason given most often for using was improved athletic performance; common side effects heightened libido, acne, increased body hair. small number users suggests that underreporting took place; this level use probably represents lower bound among power lifters.
