摘要: In vitro studies of the effect contact stress on wear ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) in orthopaedic applications have produced contradictory results which predict both increased and decreased with increasing stress. vivo functioning hip prostheses reported that 22 mm femoral heads generate lower linear volumetric rates than 32 heads. The decreasing head size will increase but decrease sliding distance per motion cycle. present study consists experiments under a range magnitudes application conditions order to simulate processes occurring vivo. from these tests indicated factor actually decreases if was not varied time. If time dependent or spatially varying applied, can greatly when compared similar magnitude constant This may be due complex relationship between rate particle generation at particles are released interface. discussed terms influence upon potential total knee prostheses.
