摘要: Background and objective Xenon ventilation computed tomography (CT) has shown potential in assessing the regional status subjects with asthma. The purpose of this study was to evaluate usefulness xenon CT management asthma elderly. Methods Treatment-naive asthmatics aged 65 years or older were recruited. Before initiation medication, spirometry bronchodilator (BD) reversibility, questionnaires assess severity symptoms including a visual analogue scale (VAS), tests cognitive function mood, performed. Xenon gas trapping (XT) on represents an area where inhaled not expired trapped. Symptoms lung functions measured again after 12-week treatment. Results A total 30 elderly enrolled. dyspnoea by VAS showed significant correlation number areas XT taken pre-BD wash-out phase (r = −0.723, P < 0.001). significantly decreased BD inhalation, differences (between pre- post-BD phases) at baseline correlations per cent increases forced expiratory volume 1 s subsequent anti-asthma treatment (r = −0.775, P < 0.001). Conclusions Xenon may be objective promising tool measurement prediction response asthmatics.
