摘要: It has been reported recently that genes encoding antigens of bacterial and viral pathogens can be expressed in plants a form which they retain native immunogenic properties. The structural protein VP1 foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV), frequently shown to contain critical epitopes, different vectors induce virus-neutralizing antibodies protection experimental natural hosts. Here we report the production transformed (Arabidopsis thaliana) expressing VP1. Mice immunized with leaf plant extracts elicited specific antibody responses synthetic peptides representing amino acid residues 135 160 VP1, itself, intact FMDV particles. Additionally, all mice were protected against challenge virulent FMDV. To our knowledge, this is first study showing by immunization an antigen transgenic plant.
