摘要: We present results from a study of centrally produced mesons in 3 × 106 events with two small-angle protons at the CERN Intersecting Storage Rings. A high-statistics sample exclusive pp → ppπ+π− √s = 63 GeV has been obtained, where reaction mechanism is dominated by double pomeron exchange. Scalar or tensor glueballs may be this process. The π+π− mass spectrum distinctive structure, and analysis shows that data are dominantly S-wave up to 1600 MeV. behaviour D-wave provides evidence for 2++ resonance (M 1480 ± 50 MeV, Γ 150 MeV) addition f(1270). also show on K+K−, pp, π+π−π+π− production, analogous αα ααπ+π− 126 GeV. Flavour independence suggested observation approximately equal numbers K+K− pairs above 1 spectra apparently independent (45, 63, GeV) incident particle type (p, α).
