摘要: Background: Uveitis associated with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis (JRA) is an important cause of visual impairment in children. Because uveitis often asymptomatic this age group, frequent ophthalmologic screening examinations are recommended. Recent reports have found a decrease the prevalence and severity JRA when compared to older data. Methods: The charts 52 consecutive patients seen over 30-month period were retrospectively reviewed. Results: Eye examination identified five (12%) patients. All female, ANA positive, had pauciarticular-onset arthritis. Three onset before 2. maintained good acuity - not developed serious sight-threatening ocular complications follow-up period. Conclusions: Although JRA-associated may be decreasing, we strongly recommend continued strict adherence current guidelines.
