摘要: The removal of phenol, ortho- (o-) and para- (p-)cresol was studied with two series UASB reactors using unacclimatized granular sludges bioaugmented a consortium enriched against these substances. parameters were the amount inoculum added to method immobilization inoculum. Two methods used, adsorption biomass or encapsulation within calcium alginate beads. In bioaugmentation by experiment, 10% inoculum, complete phenol obtained after 36 d, while 178 d required in control reactor. For p-cresol, 95% reactor on day 48 60 achieve 90% o-cresol, removals only marginally better reactors. Tests performed under non-limiting substrate concentrations showed that specific activities biomasses larger than original for p-cresol even 276 operations, showing bacteria successfully colonized sludge granules. Immobilization beads, Results best when encapsulated alone beads sludges. This presented excellent activity highest various phenolic compounds few days start-up. After 90 high-phenolic still observed, demonstrating effectiveness technique start-up maintenance high-removal activities.
