Results from empirical analyses based German Life History Study (N = 5453) show only a small increase over last decades, but there was shift prevalence career patterns. This suggests that effects might be counteracted or modified by other social changes affected Germany during 60 years. In particular, we consider possible educational expansion, labor market restructuring, women's increased employment. find no evidence industry-specific impacts careers, U-shaped relationship between complexity. Careers are slightly more complex industries with high low growth. conclude that, while has been patterns time, stability is possibly overestimated.
