摘要: Abstract Specific activities of the natural radionuclides 238 U, 226 Ra, 232 Th and 40 K were measured by means γ-ray spectrometry in surface soil samples collected from city Ptolemais, which is located near lignite-fired power plants. The mean activity values for found to be 42 ± 11, 27 ± 6, 36 ± 5 496 ± 56 Bq kg −1 , respectively. These fall within range typical world Greek soil. indoor radon concentration levels, also 66 dwellings SSNTD, ranged 12 129 Bq m −3 with an average value 36 ± 2 Bq m . This close concentrations. total effective dose due outdoor external irradiation terrestrial origin internal short-lived decay products 222 Rn was estimated 1.2 mSv y adults, lower than global sources 2.4 mSv y
