摘要: Wood-pastures are important elements of the European natural and cultural heritage, fulfilling several ecological functions at local landscape scale (e.g. providing a valuable habitat for wide range species, as well link to traditional management practices), but nowadays in decline especially due land-use changes begun 20th century lack legal recognition. Wood- pastures relatively common Southern Transylvania (Romania), and, contrary majority similar habitats from Europe, not threatened mainly by abandonment subsequent secondary succession, modifications regime. Using historical documents, this paper presents an overview current ground vegetation wood-pastures. These were traditionally grazed cattle pigs, sheep being often subject regulations. Regular mowing was also practiced. Nowadays main grazers has practically disappeared, while incidences burning increasing. Analyzing differences between present situation those described old publications provides information conservation potential restoration similar, degraded throughout Europe.
