Settlement Suitability Analysis of Local Ground Characteristics in Iskenderun: A Case Study☆

摘要: Current study aimed to determine the settlement suitability of local ground characteristics in city Iskenderun. In this context, classes such as lithology, distance from fault lines, shear velocity (Vs), water, sea and slope were generated by utilizing geology maps, landslide digital contour line data scaled 1:25.000 obtained Mineral Research Exploration Institute, Iskenderun Municipality General Command Mapping respectively. Multi criteria decision-making analysis was used assess these classes. Results show that 3% area has 1st degree while 7% 21% have 2nd 3rd suitability, Moreover, 69% found display not suitable for settlement. It is observed damage caused an earthquake would be more than expected, settlements often made areas with no or suitability. Therefore, reduction measures should immediately taken.
