摘要: The city of Alexandria, Egypt, is highly exposed to sea level rise putting communities at risk related coastal hazards such as storm surges and inundation. In the future, preventive resettlement may become a realistic and, under some conditions, unavoidable adaptation policy rise. Many examples failed projects exist worldwide, wherein resettled populations faced increased social economic risks. This paper investigates preferences vulnerable people in Alexandria for programs response A choice experiment was conducted assess willingness participate voluntary identify important factors that influence decision participate. can help makers design people-centered provide right incentives increase participation. Results show those who are, principle, willing resettle, transparency relocation process, public/social infrastructure, financial compensation, housing income/job security significantly their choices. However, large share population not resettle given proposed alternative included experiment. Urban households are more likely be unwilling while income insecurity fewer relationships decrease probability choosing ceteris paribus.
