摘要: The purpose of this double-blind study was to compare the effects on flying performance a nonsedating antihistamine, (terfenadine), two sedating antihistamines, (chlorpheniramine and diphenhydramine), placebo. Twelve USAF pilots were tested at 1-month intervals with above medications, administered during separate testing periods. Medication given twice daily for 3 days. On third day, each pilot performed three landing approaches in C5-B flight simulator, followed by assessment psychological neuropsychological tests. Evaluation data showed no significant differences among any while four different medications. Psychological demonstrated exception SCL-90-R, where reported physiological subjective symptoms diphenhydramine chlorpheniramine, but not terfenadine. While medication, open-ended questionnaires corroborated results SCL-90-R. Both suggest that terfenadine has detectable overall performance. Language: en
