摘要: Decreased distractibility in young male chicks (Gallus domesticus) following the administration of testosterone esters was first described for search tests (Andrew and Rogers 1972). Two procedures were followed. In first, food grains two different colours (both which acceptable to chick) presented clumps. Choise biassed towards one type by previous training, some cases very brief exposure just before test. Testosterone-treated (T’s) sustained on a clump longer, sometimes ending with single peck non-preferred shifting another clump, when they at once resumed choice preferred type. Controls shifted more readily between clumps as exhausted, but also second The procedure showed this latter effect clearly. Here types against distracting background pebbles matched colour Under these conditions, only T’s able sustain long runs food, whilst controls took both an opportunistic way. Level deprivation has no differences controls: other appropriate control are reviewed Andrew (1972).
