摘要: A systematic approach to study the sediment transport in shallow waters is presented. The combines mathematical modeling, remote sensing by satellite and aircraft, laboratory field experiments. Two- three-dimensional hydrodynamic models are utilized combined with significant wave account for important mechanisms of dispersion: convection, turbulent diffusion, gravitational settling, re-suspension deposition at sediment-water interface. Two examples model application presented: (1) a feasibility direct pipeline discharge dissolved solids into Central Basin Lake Erie; (2) realistic dispersion event 3 days Western Erie. For event, successfully simulates observed general pattern as well concentration gradient horizontal direction. bottom sediments underwent appreciable resuspension during 3-day while net change thickness over much basin was quite small. basic can be extended estuarine coastal regions.
