摘要: Several nonlinear crystals that are used in laser and optical signal processing technologies belong to the {\overline 4}2m point group. This group exhibits as primary effects natural birefringence, activity, linear quadratic electro-optic effects, electro-gyration and, secondary photo-elasticity piezo-gyration via inverse piezo-electric phenomenon. The combination of these makes study light propagation a complicated task. In this work, influence each on is analytically reviewed, suitable configurations for applied electric field directions identified, which decouple contribution individual effects. It found complete decoupling from effect not possible symmetry, while feasible, separation can be achieved. For phenomena, index ellipsoid geometries eingenpolarizations calculated, analytic expressions derived intensity beam propagating through crystal followed by polarizer, thus providing valuable information design devices and/or measurements corresponding coefficients.
