Large Wiedemann effect in a magnetoactive elastomer

摘要: Abstract Large twists of a soft tube (hollow cylinder) in helical magnetic fields are presented for the first time. Such phenomenon is usually denoted as Wiedemann effect. The fabricated from magnetoactive elastomer material with shear modulus about 56 kPa. composite comprises 80 mass% micrometer-sized iron particles embedded into polydimethylsiloxane matrix. circular field generated by an electric current straight wire passing through inner hole tube. maximum value approximately 350″/cm observed longitudinal few kA/m overlapped circumferential 1.4 kA/m on surface hole. A pronounced hysteresis dependence effect found. ways to enhance twist elastomers discussed. large promising application magnetic-field controlled torsional actuators, particular robotics.
