Modification of the critical projectile diameter of honeycomb sandwich panel considering the channeling effect in hypervelocity impact

摘要: Abstract In this paper, a variation of the critical projectile diameter honeycomb sandwich panel (HC/SP), due to channeling effect, is investigated by using smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH). Before performing numerical study on results 2-D hypervelocity impact simulation were compared with experimental in order validate along searching proper parameters such as equation state, strength model, and failure model. And then, analysis effect performed different cell sizes, wall thicknesses depths HC core accordance specifications commercial cores. As result study, it revealed that size most influential parameter at normal incidence impact. Also appears be varying effect. Finally, modified diameters HC/SP are presented introducing decrement diameter.
