The magnitude of association between overweight and obesity and the risk of diabetes: A meta-analysis of prospective cohort studies

摘要: The objectives of this meta-analysis were to examine the magnitude relative risk (RR) developing type 2 diabetes for overweight and obese populations, compared those with normal weight, determine causes variation in RR between various cohort studies. was analyzed by combining 18 prospective studies that matched defined criteria. variance explored. overall persons weight 7.19, 95% CI: 5.74, 9.00 2.99, 2.42, 3.72. among explored it found effect heterogeneity highly related sample size, method assessment body mass index (BMI) ascertainment diabetes. By only more than 400 cases incident (>median), adjusted at least three main confounding variables (age, family history diabetes, physical activity), measured BMI, determined clinical diagnosis, 7.28, 6.47, 8.28 obesity 2.92, 2.57, 3.32 overweight.
