摘要: The members of Valerianaceae have a long history use as sedative in Europe and Asia. Nardostachys chinensis Batalin N. jatamansii DC been used for centuries China India to cure various psychiatric disorders such epilepsy overexcitement (Rucker 1979; Houghton 1988). Besides these two species, some Valeriana species are extensively nowadays sedatives, e.g., V. wallichii India, officinalis L. var angustifolia Japan, s.l. 1979). This latter was already known the Greeks Romans diuretic, analgesic, spasmolytic drug. Since 18th century Western medicine has its properties. roots this plant included second edition European Pharmacopoeia (1985).
