Barriers to and Facilitators of User Engagement With Digital Mental Health Interventions: Systematic Review.

摘要: Background: Digital mental health interventions (DMHIs), which deliver support via technologies such as mobile apps, can increase access to support, and many studies have demonstrated their effectiveness in improving symptoms. However, user engagement varies, with regard a user’s uptake sustained interactions these interventions. Objective: This systematic review aims identify common barriers facilitators that influence DMHIs. Methods: A search was conducted the SCOPUS, PubMed, PsycINFO, Web of Science, Cochrane Library databases. Empirical report qualitative and/or quantitative data were included. Results: total 208 articles met inclusion criteria. The included used variety methodologies, including interviews, surveys, focus groups, workshops, field studies, analysis reviews. Factors extracted for coding related end user, program or content offered by intervention, technology implementation environment. Common severe issues hampered engagement, technical issues, lack personalization. social connectedness facilitated increased insight into health, feeling being control one’s own health. Conclusions: Although previous research suggests DMHIs be useful supporting contextual factors are important determinants whether users actually engage interventions. identified this provide guidance when evaluating help explain understand inform design development new digital interventions.
