摘要: ABSTRACT “Candidatus Methylomirabilis oxyfera” is a newly discovered denitrifying methanotroph that unrelated to previously known methanotrophs. This bacterium member of the NC10 phylum and couples methane oxidation denitrification through intra-aerobic pathway. In present study, we report first ultrastructural study “Ca. using scanning electron microscopy, transmission tomography in combination with different sample preparation methods. We observed cells possess an atypical polygonal shape distinct from other bacterial shapes described so far. Also, additional layer was as outermost sheath, which might represent (glyco)protein surface layer. Further, intracytoplasmic membranes, are common feature among proteobacterial methanotrophs, were never under current growth conditions. Our results indicate ultrastructurally bacteria by its cell classical methanotrophs apparent lack membranes.
